Lead Resident Advocate

Job Title: Lead Resident Advocate Reports To: Director

Salary: $15 - $17 Hours: Weekday, 1pm-9pm

Primary Shift Responsibilities:

  • Upon arrival, review previous staff end-of-coverage notes & logs.

  • Assist with all aspects of meal preparation and clean-up.

  • Complete light housekeeping, such as vacuuming, sweeping, dusting & restroom cleanliness.

  • At a minimum of once per evening, patrol all areas of the house to ensure security and check for conditions that could result in injury or loss.

  • Create and keep up to date the Community Calendar. Posting the next month on the last day of each month.

  • Be in contact with the Director on all issues/concerns regarding residents, including but not limited to behavior, activities they are engaging in, communication, relationships etc...

  • Responsible for ensuring that all Hannah Center holiday decorations are put up and taken down at reasonable times, with the assistance of residents.

  • Ensure dinner time is completed per guidelines during the week.

  • Monitor and ensure all resident sign in/out sheets and computer logs are posted and turned in to the Director when full.

  • Maintain the diaper closet, keep it stocked with all sizes of diapers and wipes.

Primary Responsibilities With Residents:

  • Enforce & abide by the Hannah Center Resident Handbook.

  • Monitor all activities and ensure all household tasks are performed by residents, as assigned.

  • Provide general support, mentoring and companionship for all residents.

  • Hold residents accountable to their weekly goals, assist with weekly goals as needed.

  • Facilitate meetings with residents; including but not limited to weekly curriculum/studies, video series, etc.

  • Help transport residents to Life Skill Classes held at a local venue

  • Monitor and enforce that all residents are turning in their weekly schedule every Wednesday night.

  • Ensure residents properly check-out and check-in when leaving the HC.

  • Ensure residents properly log their personal inbound and outbound phone calls.

  • Enforce all resident rules established and approved by Hannah Center’s Board of Directors.

General Responsibilities:

  • Strive to promote a positive environment & attitude, and offer positive support to all residents.

  • Maintain and promote strict confidentiality.

  • Assist residents to think of all possible outcomes and/or consequences of their choices; help residents to make the choice that will promote positive change within their lives.

  • Exhibit positive conflict resolution skills.

  • Refer residents to the Director when faced with a situation you are unsure of how to handle or is beyond your skill set or job description.

  • Provide transportation when necessary, ensuring an appropriate individual is physically present at Hannah Center at all times.

  • Follow the direction set forth by the Director and/or Board of Directors.

  • Make The Hannah Center a warm & comfortable home, while also maintaining safety & security.

  • Ensure Hannah Center remains presentable at all time; orderliness and cleanliness are paramount as we accept no federal and state monies; donors expect to be given tours of our facilities, often without notice.

  • Complete & submit a Job Assessment as directed by the Director

  • Create and maintain written records on each resident of Hannah Center throughout her residency by completing an end-of-coverage closing report.

  • Act as a liaison with the community to build and reciprocate goodwill. Be a good neighbor.

  • Make decisions regarding the Hannah Center and its residents, staff & volunteers, which always put the good of the Hannah Center first.

  • Arrange the relief coverage, as necessary.

  • The Lead Resident Advocate will be responsible to work rotating Holiday’s if needed, as recognized by Hannah Center. This rotation will be in rotation with all other Resident Advocates.

Working conditions: Resident Advocates have 100% accountability while on duty. Resident Advocates must be on-site when providing evening coverage, depending on the shift scheduled. Private sleeping quarters and meals with residents are provided.

Profile/Skill Set:

The ideal Lead Resident Advocate:

  • Skilled in positive verbal and non-verbal communication.

  • Must possess active listening skills.

  • Ability to treat all residents with equal respect.

  • Offer support to all women while promoting independence in a positive homelike environment.

  • Must be dependable & trustworthy.

  • Appropriately handles conflict between residents in the house. Does not engage, take sides, or stirs up unneeded conflict situations within the house.

  • Supports Hannah Center’s culture, mission and values.

  • Be open & accepting of individuals and their beliefs without compromising her own beliefs.

  • Can function in a team setting for the benefit of the Hannah Center and its residents.

  • Have a positive presence in the community.

  • Valid Driver’s License.
